Corporate Event Photography at the Mountain Winery – How to Plan a Corporate Event With Photography In Mind

Corporate events are a lot of fun for employees and can also be a great opportunity for photography. The images can be used for employees to highlight your company on social media. And some of the images can be used on your corporate website as well. Here are some examples of corporate event photography at the Mountain Winery I captured for Lexus of Stevens Creek. As well as some tips on how to plan a corporate event with photography in mind.

Larger Spaces Typically Photograph Well

One of the things I LOVED about doing corporate event photography at the Mountain Winery was the amount of space. Having corporate events at a larger venue allows your Photographer to move around and take pictures without be obtrusive. Most Photographers prefer to capture events at a distance. It not only makes guests feel comfortable but you can capture candid and natural moments.

Provide Your Photographer With A Detailed Agenda Beforehand

One of the best things you can do to make sure all of the important images are captured is to provide the Photographer with a detailed agenda. If you are able to print it off and give the Photographer a physical copy, this is even better. Since the Photographer will be moving around, capturing mostly candid shots, having an idea of how the event progresses will allow them to get all of the images you want. As the event planner, this will also allow you to enjoy the event without worrying that the Photographer is where they need to be. PRO TIP: most Photographers do not like event coordinators constantly reminding them of what shots need to be captured. Providing them with an agenda is the best way to ensure you are not breathing down their neck and that all of the important shots are taken.

Have a Backdrop For Guests To Take Pictures

Another great tip is to have space for guests to take pictures. If you are able to create a backdrop with your company’s logo, this will be a hit for everyone. Employees LOVE posting these types of images on social media. And a lot of these kinds of images can be used on your company’s website as well. PRO TIP: create a hashtag specific to your event. That way when employees post fun images online, it can trend on social media.

Schedule All of the Important Photos Before The Sun Sets

In terms of photography, scheduling the most important images before the sun sets is recommended. After the sun sets, you can still take pictures but the photographer will need to use an external light for these images. The very best lighting of the day occurs about an hour before the sun sets. If you are able to schedule the most important shots around this time, that will make for great images 😉

For Larger Events, See if You Can Have 2 Photographers

Lastly, if your event has more than 100 people I recommend having two Photographers. Your Photographer can take care of this. You do not need to hire two separate companies. Full time Photographers typically know other Photographers who can assist them on weddings and larger events. Make sure to run this by them before hand 😉

Hopefully, these tips and photographs from my recent corporate event photography at the Mountain Winery have given you some ideas for your next event. Thanks!
