7 Things I LOVE About Taking Family Pictures At Stanford

Over the years, I have had many sessions at Stanford University. And it is one of my favorite places to take photographs. Here are some pictures from one of my recent sessions as well as 7 things I love about taking family pictures at Stanford.

1. Stanford is a Historic Location

One cool thing about taking pictures at Stanford University is it’s History. It is one of the best universities in the country, and this makes for an interesting backdrop for portraits. Whenever I am taking pictures at Stanford, there are people who come from all over the country to visit the campus.

2. I Love The Architecture and Hallways

One of the things that sets Stanford apart from other family portrait locations nearby is its architecture. The hallways and other structures create a natural framing for your pictures. The yellow stoned halls, arches, and doorways are unique to only Stanford University.

3. If You Need to Change or Take a Break, There Are Restrooms

Another great feature about choosing Stanford University is the fact that it has restrooms. If someone needs to take a bathroom break or change clothes, this is very convenient. Restrooms come in handy when photographing children or if you plan on a quick outfit change.

4. No Permit is Required To Take Pictures on Campus

Believe it or not, a lot of venues require a photo permit to take pictures there. For example, other universities such as Santa Clara University, many wineries, and other popular tourist attracts.

5. Stanford is Beautiful at Any Time of the Year

Many locations look completely different at different times of the year. The good thing about Stanford is that it looks great at all times of the year. Since Stanford is more of an architectural location, it photographs great year round. Venues such as the Municipal Rose Garden in San Jose looks completely different in the Winter than it does in the Spring.

6. You Can Still Take Pictures at Stanford if it is Raining

If you are set on a location and it happens to rain, this can be a complete bummer. Especially if the session cannot be rescheduled. The great thing about taking family pictures at Stanford is that you can still take pictures there if it rains. The hallways provide adequate coverage from the rain.

7. There is a Variety of Different Backgrounds

Last but not least, there is a good variety of backgrounds at Stanford. Not only can you take pictures in the hallways, but there are redwood trees, grass, flowers, and water fountains. Many clients love the variety of images you can get from scheduling their session at Stanford 😉
